Reviewing Transcripts

The Veterans Oral History Project also needs transcription reviewers!

  • If you want would like to volunteer as a reviewer, the project team will assign you a completed transcript once it is available for review. Please register to volunteer by filling out the volunteer interest form here.
  • Completed transcriptions will be reviewed by at least one reviewer, so if you have a preference about which veteran’s interview you review, please let us know and we will do our best to assign that interview to you. You can indicate your interests by filling out the volunteer interest form here.
  • To ensure that all of the project transcriptions have a consistent format, please review the "Tips on Transcribing" page for the project’s minimum guidelines for formatting the text of your transcription before you begin to review and make any changes to an oral history transcript. If you would like to see an example of proper transcript formatting, review the "Transcription Sample."
  • Review the transcription for accuracy and completeness. Read the entire transcription, and carefully compare it against the interview audio. Make changes as you see necessary according to the transcription guidelines.
